About The Position

Syntiant Corp. is seeking an experienced DevOps Machine Learning Infrastructure Engineer to support and enhance its Software Engineering function. The role involves building, maintaining, and improving machine learning applications deployed on AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and an on-premises machine learning cluster. The engineer will work across cloud and on-premises environments, applying application-development, cloud-infrastructure, containerization, and DevOps practices.

The position develops and maintains Python/FastAPI services, deploys and manages applications on AWS EKS, integrates data sources and services, and automates testing and deployment through CI/CD pipelines. It also maintains on-premises storage and database services, resolves issues across development, staging, and production environments, and contributes to code reviews and knowledge sharing.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience, at least five years of relevant experience, and strong skills in Python, FastAPI, AWS EKS, containers, cloud services, databases, Linux administration, and testing. The base salary range is $185,000–$215,000. The company describes a total compensation package that includes base pay, an annual incentive plan, participation in its equity plan, and benefits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Python and experience using FastAPI for API development.
• Hands-on experience deploying, scaling, and managing AWS EKS and Kubernetes clusters.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure services such as S3, RDS, and VPCs.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI/CD or Jenkins.
• Strong understanding of database systems, including MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and NFS.
• Experience with on-premises storage solutions such as Ceph.
• Expertise in Linux system administration.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code and perform thorough testing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with cloud-native observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes operators and Helm charts.
• Knowledge of on-premises container orchestration using Kubernetes or similar technologies.
• Experience with DevOps best practices and infrastructure as code, such as Terraform and Ansible.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI.
• Deploy and manage applications on AWS EKS, ensuring availability, scalability, and performance.
• Integrate data sources and services, including MongoDB and PostgreSQL, for data storage and retrieval.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployment.
• Collaborate across teams to integrate cloud-native tools and practices.
• Maintain on-premises servers running Ceph, PostgreSQL, and NFS services.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in development, staging, and production environments.
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
