About The Position

SAIC is seeking a DevOps Engineer to build and operate an internal developer platform for connected and air-gapped environments. The role is based at a customer location in Arlington, Virginia, and is primarily onsite, with a minimum of three days onsite per week. Onsite requirements may change based on program needs. The engineer will develop internal DevOps tools, CLI utilities, and automation scripts, and work with Azure, CI/CD, Kubernetes, pipelines, and automation. The environment uses GitLab for source control and pipelines; Terraform and Ansible for automation; Python for helpers and tests; and Helm for Kubernetes deployments. It also includes Microsoft Azure Stack Hub and a Hyper-V sidecar. The role emphasizes trunk-based GitLab workflows, deterministic pipelines with built-in testing and security scans, evidence attached to every change, and avoidance of manual click-operations. It includes checksum-, signature-, and SBOM-driven artifact movement, mirroring via reposync and Pulp, offline scanning and promotion for high-side environments, and secure secrets practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of experience; additional work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with Go-based CLI tools and API integrations to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning.
  • Strong background deploying and managing cloud resources such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience with tools such as Terraform.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience using Docker containers.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with eligible SCI; SCI access must have been debriefed within the last two years.
  • Familiarity with secrets management and vulnerability or misconfiguration scanning in CI, including SAST, IaC, secret detection, Semgrep/KICS, Trivy, or pip-audit.

Nice To Haves

  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) experience.
