DevOps Engineer - Workday Integrations

RBCToronto, ON
Onsite

About The Position

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer – Workday Integrations to bridge the gap between core Workday functionality and modern site reliability engineering (SRE). In this role, you will move beyond traditional, reactive production support. You will build, automate, monitor, and optimize our enterprise data pipelines. Your mission is to ensure continuous uptime, high reliability, and seamless data flows across our global Workday ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Workday Technical Core: Workday Orchestration, Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Core Connectors, Document Transformation (DT), Custom Reports, and Calculated Fields.
  • Programming & Scripting: Strong proficiency in Python, Shell, or PowerShell for automation, alongside XSLT, XML, and JSON.
  • Databases & Data Validation: Advanced SQL for querying, manipulating, and validating large upstream and downstream datasets.
  • DevOps & Monitoring Tools: Experience with CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions) and log aggregation/monitoring systems (Splunk, ELK Stack, or Datadog).
  • API Technologies: Deep understanding of REST and SOAP web services, GraphQL, and secure payload transport.
  • 2 - 3 years of experience building complex Workday Integrations.
  • 3+ years of experience managing enterprise integrations, with at least 1–2 years applying SRE, DevOps, or automation frameworks.
  • Strong familiarity with ITIL service management, Incident Management, and Agile/Scrum delivery.
  • Exceptional analytical skills to dissect complex data payloads and trace technical issues across distributed cloud systems.
  • Ability to translate complex technical integration failures into clear, actionable business impacts for non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Workday Technical Advanced: Workday Extend

Responsibilities

  • Build CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment, testing, and validation of Workday integrations.
  • Automate regression testing using scripting languages to minimize the impact of Workday’s bi-annual feature upgrades and weekly patches.
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code (IaC) or automated scripts to streamline integration environment provisioning and configuration tracking.
  • Design and implement proactive monitoring dashboards using APM tools (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace) to track integration health, API latency, and payload delivery.
  • Establish alerting thresholds and self-healing scripts to detect and remediate data flow bottlenecks before business operations are impacted.
  • Conduct deep-dive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for complex, systemic integration failures and implement permanent engineering fixes.
  • Own Tier 3 production support for business-critical Workday integrations, including Workday Studio, Cloud Connectors, PECI, and EIBs.
  • Optimize data transformations by refactoring complex XSLT, XML, and JSON payloads for better processing speed and lower failure rates.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal IT teams to troubleshoot secure network connectivity, custom API endpoints, and authentication protocols (OAuth, SAML).

Benefits

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable
