About The Position

RCT is looking for a solid DevOps candidate with detailed experience in AWS and its core resources (EC2, S3, RDS), as well as CloudFormation for resource management. The role requires proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming languages like Ruby, Python, or NodeJS, and experience with the AWS SDK. This position is crucial for assisting development teams in effectively utilizing AWS and implementing architectural best practices. The engineer will be responsible for Jenkins, including building Jenkins Pipelines with Groovy and potentially creating shared Jenkins libraries, to support continuous integration and deployment efforts. Familiarity with Puppet for software installation management, Docker for container building and maintenance, and container orchestration tools like ECS or Docker Compose is also necessary. The role emphasizes strong teamwork, a willingness to learn and teach, and requires a blend of Software Engineering and Systems Administrator skillsets for infrastructure as code solutions.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of AWS experience.
  • Detailed experience with AWS resources (EC2, S3, RDS).
  • Proficiency with CloudFormation for creating and maintaining AWS resources.
  • Experience with programming in an Object-Oriented Programming language (Ruby, Python, or NodeJS preferred).
  • Experience with using the AWS SDK in supported languages (Ruby, Python, Java, NodeJS, etc.).
  • Experience with Jenkins and building Jenkins Pipelines using Groovy.
  • Familiarity with Puppet for managing software installations.
  • Familiarity with Docker, building and maintaining containers.
  • Understanding of Docker Orchestration tools like ECS or Docker Compose.
  • 5 or more years of Object Oriented Programming background: Ruby, Python, Java, or NodeJS.
  • Experience with Jenkins and creating Jenkins Pipelines while having and understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment best practices.
  • At least 1 to 2 years of experience with Docker and some type of container orchestration tool, Docker Compose, ECS.
  • 5 years of Bash shell scripting experience.
  • At least 2 years experience with GitHub and any branching strategy.
  • Team player and work well with others regardless of skill levels.
  • TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Java experience.
  • Experience creating shared Jenkins libraries.
  • Experience with AWS CDK.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain AWS resources using CloudFormation.
