About The Position

Rockwell Automation is looking for a DevOps Engineer to support embedded software development teams building high-quality industrial automation products. This role helps implement the strategy, implementation, and continuous improvement of DevOps practices for embedded software delivery, with a focus on build automation, continuous integration, source code management, static analysis, and release readiness. The engineer will work in a DevOps team supporting embedded software programs across the full software development life cycle, partnering closely with embedded software engineers, test engineers, architects, product managers, and quality teams to support agile planning and execution. The role involves supporting the adoption of DevOps best practices, monitoring pipeline health, troubleshooting build and integration failures, resolving bottlenecks, supporting release management activities, ensuring development workflows align with internal engineering processes, security expectations, and product quality requirements, and supporting continuous improvement through retrospectives, root cause analysis, and implementation of process and tooling enhancements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Years of Relevant Work Experience

Nice To Haves

  • Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Experience with Jenkins for continuous integration and automation of software build and test workflows.
  • Experience with GitLab for source code management, collaboration workflows, and repository governance.
  • Experience utilizing Infrastructure as Code tools, such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Terraform
  • Working knowledge of agile software development practices and collaboration in Scrum or SAFe-style delivery environments.
  • Experience supporting embedded software or firmware development teams, including build, integration, and release challenges unique to embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools such as Python, Groovy, PowerShell and JavaScript.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve pipeline, tooling, and integration issues quickly.
  • Experience working with global team members on multi-campus product development

Responsibilities

  • Work in a DevOps team supporting embedded software programs across the full software development life cycle.
  • Partner closely with embedded software engineers, test engineers, architects, product managers, and quality teams to support agile planning and execution.
  • Support adoption of DevOps best practices, including pipeline standardization, build reproducibility, artifact management, and automation-first development.
  • Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot build and integration failures, and resolve bottlenecks that impact delivery performance.
  • Support release management activities for embedded software deliverables, including versioning, baseline management, and audit readiness.
  • Ensure development workflows align with internal engineering processes, security expectations, and product quality requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement through retrospectives, root cause analysis, and implementation of process and tooling enhancements.
