About The Position

This is a long-term contract role for a DeVops/DevSecOps Architect/Lead with a focus on AWS. The position is based in Texas, USA, and requires an onsite presence. The role involves architecting enterprise-scale CI/CD pipelines, defining reference architectures for DevOps and DevSecOps, and driving shift-left security, quality, and compliance. The candidate will also be responsible for cloud and platform architecture on AWS, leading infrastructure as code strategy, embedding security and compliance into CI/CD pipelines, architecting enterprise observability, and providing leadership within DevOps and DevSecOps teams. This includes mentoring, leading PoCs, workshops, and creating reusable architecture artifacts. Strong architecture thinking, system design, leadership, mentoring, cross-team collaboration, and executive-level communication skills are essential.

Requirements

  • 15+ years overall IT experience
  • Experience in DevOps/DevSecOps engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead/architect role
  • Hands-on experience with Guidewire Cloud Platform CI/CD, including Quality Gates, BYOT, BYOGIT, and BYOCICD
  • Insurance industry or Guidewire suite (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter) implementation experience
  • 6+ years in AWS Cloud DevOps, or AWS DevSecOps architecture roles
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale enterprise CI/CD platforms
  • Core Technical Skills: Cloud: AWS (primary)
  • CI/CD: GitLab CI/CD, TeamCity
  • Source Control: GitLab, Bitbucket
  • IaC: Terraform
  • Containers: Kubernetes, EKS/OpenShift
  • Security: SonarQube, Checkmarx, Veracode, Snyk, Trivy (or similar)
  • Observability: Datadog, CloudWatch, ELK
  • Languages: Java/.Net
  • Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional preferred)
  • Cloud Security or DevSecOps certifications
  • Strong expertise in enterprise CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps)
  • Experience with security tooling (SonarQube, Checkmarx, Veracode or similar)
  • Prior experience leading DevSecOps transformation programs in large enterprises
  • Background in logging/monitoring tools (Datadog, Splunk, ELK, CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana)
  • Proficiency with infrastructure as code (IaC) and containerization (Terraform, Kubernetes, Helm, Docker)
  • Solid understanding of shift-left testing practices, automation frameworks, and cloud security guardrails
  • Strong architecture thinking and system design mindset

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End DevSecOps Architecture: Architect enterprise-scale CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, and cloud-native pipelines
  • Define reference architectures for DevOps and DevSecOps across multiple application stacks (microservices, APIs, UI, backend services)
  • Drive shift-left security, quality, and compliance across the SDLC
  • Cloud & Platform Architecture (AWS-centric): Familiar with cloud foundations across compute, storage, networking, IAM, and security
  • Architect solutions on AWS (EKS, ECS, Fargate, EC2, Lambda) with hybrid and multi-cloud considerations
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation: Lead IaC strategy using Terraform, CloudFormation, and configuration management tools
  • Standardize environment provisioning, drift detection, and policy enforcement
  • Enable self-service platforms for development teams
  • Security, Compliance & Governance: Embed SAST, DAST, SCA, container scanning, secrets detection into CI/CD pipelines
  • Align DevSecOps controls with NIST, SOC2, ISO 27001, PCI, HIPAA, NYDFS, and enterprise compliance requirements
  • Partner with InfoSec, Risk, and Compliance teams to automate policy enforcement
  • Observability & Reliability Engineering: Architect enterprise observability using Datadog, CloudWatch, ELK
  • Enable logging, metrics, tracing, RUM, and alerting across applications and platforms
  • Drive SRE practices including SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets
  • Leadership: Act as technical authority and mentor for DevOps and DevSecOps teams
  • Lead PoCs, workshops, and client architecture sessions
  • Create reusable architecture artifacts, templates, accelerators, and best practices
