About The Position

Trellis Society seeks Developmental Wellness Workers to aid our 24/7 Residential and Shelter Programs. Support Workers help clients improve their quality of life and define what success looks like for them. The position involves supporting 24-hour, Recovery-Oriented, and Housing-Focused programs for youth and adults. This position generally requires a 36-hour work week, with either three 12-hour shifts per week or four 9-hour shifts. Mandatory attendance for Monthly Team Meetings is also required.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Human Services with recent and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn database systems.
  • Concise and clear communication (verbal and written) and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience or in-depth understanding of Recovery-Oriented and Trauma Informed Practices.
  • Up-to-date Standard First Aid and Level C CPR training.
  • Ability to provide a clear Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Child Intervention Record Check.
  • Access to reliable vehicle with a $2M liability insurance and a valid Class 5 Driver's License with at least one year of driving experience with Class 5.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to clients who are ending their experience with homelessness.
  • Support clients in building life skills such as cooking, cleaning, employment, education, and budgeting.
  • Intervening and de-escalating crisis situations as they occur.
  • Utilize Recovery-Oriented and Trauma-Informed practices to mitigate client risks.
  • Act as a liaison between natural supports, families, social workers, doctors, and other professionals involved with clients.
  • Timely completion of case notes, safety planning, and Reportable Incidents reports.
  • Plan, implement, and participate in client-driven program activities.
  • Attend required training opportunities within the appropriate timeframe and monthly team meetings.
  • Provide transportation to and from appointments, programs, and activities, ensuring safety and punctuality.
  • Other duties as required.
