Developmental Technician II ~ Caswell Developmental Center
About The Position
Provide direction, support, and assistance to staff during the shift through assignments to ensure shift operations meet individual’s needs. Responsibilities include assuring the physical and emotional well-being of individuals and active participation in the implementation and maintenance of priority training objectives, services, and supports comprising each individual’s habilitation plan. Duties involve those of training and support with personal care, domestic skills, leisure-social skills, self-management, ensuring the supervision and safety of individuals, assistance in program and/or training areas, transportation of individuals to scheduled activities, classes, medical and dental appointments, shopping with and for individuals, community integration, assistance in providing emergency treatment for seizures or accidents, housekeeping chores as necessary, record keeping and documentation.
Requirements
- Must be in good standing with the NC Health Care Personnel Registry
- Must successfully complete training through Staff Development department (NCI, CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting)
- Frequent lifting and bending
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis (6-8 times daily)
- Ability to stoop, bend, walk, run short distances (50 yards) and climb stairs without limitations of a permanent nature
- High School or General Educational Development Diploma and one year of related work experience; or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
- As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

- Ability to make observations and make written and oral reports
- Ability to do simple math computations and follow oral and written instructions.
- Good general health including the ability to physically lift individuals as necessary.
- Ability to supervise staff and make assignments necessary for shift operations and meeting individual’s needs.
- Ability to perform related timekeeping functions.
- Successful completion of Caswell Center inservice training requirements
- 2 years’ experience as DT I
- Three years of direct experience with people who have developmental disabilities
