About The Position

Walmart is expanding its workforce across local retail stores and is actively recruiting Developmental Technicians specializing in General Facilities and Maintenance. This is a temporary role, not to exceed 180 days, aligning with the approved SkillBridge window. As a Developmental Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of our stores, equipment, and fixtures. Working under the guidance of the local General Maintenance Manager, you'll follow established schedules and guidelines, performing inspections, cleaning, and repairs to keep everything running smoothly. This fellowship is designed for transitioning Service members in their final 180 days of service, providing training, development, and real-world experience aligned to in-demand roles across Walmart’s business. The program includes 12 weeks of training: Weeks 1-5 involve classroom training at UHP (Northwest Arkansas) covering safety, tools, repair processes, maintenance concepts, and professional expectations. Weeks 6-12 involve on-the-job training in a live maintenance environment, paired with an experienced technician. This experience bridges the transition from military service to civilian employment.

Requirements

  • Eligible Service members in their final 180 days of service.
  • Command approval and adherence to all DoD SkillBridge guidelines.
  • 18 years or older.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Can lift to 50 lbs. at a time.
  • Able to move up and down ladders frequently.
  • Able to work at heights frequently.
  • Able to work in various temperatures.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Hold a valid, state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets by utilizing multiple craft skills (for example, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, and food equipment) and using hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to complete jobs.
  • Utilize the work order management system to receive reactive repair Work Orders to support Stores and Store associates and document repair activities.
  • Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls.
  • Inspect, operate, or test facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
  • Complete all required training requirements to operate equipment and tools safely.
  • Translate military experience into civilian skills in a corporate and operational environment.
  • Build role-specific capability through training, mentorship, and on-the-job learning.
  • Develop a network and increase readiness for post-separation employment.
