About The Position

The Developmental Technician, Facility Services General Maintenance, supports facility upkeep by performing routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs under supervision. This role involves inspecting, cleaning, and servicing equipment and fixtures to ensure safety, functionality, and compliance with regulations. The technician utilizes multiple craft skills, operates heavy machinery, and documents maintenance activities accurately. Collaborating with senior technicians and management, this position contributes to maintaining operational standards while adhering to company policies and safety guidelines, fostering a reliable and well-maintained facility environment. The Exterior Services team ensures facility environments remain safe, clean, and well-maintained through skilled operation of heavy machinery and seasonal upkeep. They efficiently manage equipment, vehicles, and supplies while supporting compliance with safety and environmental standards. Collaborating with management and external providers, the team maintains quality and operational excellence. Focused on preventive maintenance, problem-solving, and continuous improvement, members uphold facility readiness and safety. The team values integrity, accountability, and clear communication to consistently deliver reliable exterior services that support Walmart’s operational goals.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs across multiple crafts including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
  • Experience operating and inspecting heavy machinery and powered equipment in compliance with safety and certification requirements.
  • Strong skills in diagnosing equipment issues using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
  • Ability to document maintenance and repair activities accurately using written and electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of integrity, ethics, and compliance in all work activities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with management and coworkers.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license and able to pass motor vehicle report.
  • 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
  • Ability to read and speak the English language as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
  • Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
  • No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
  • Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure safety, functionality, and appearance of facilities, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Inspect, clean, and repair facilities and equipment following established schedules and guidelines.
  • Diagnose issues using blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs; dismantle equipment to access defective parts.
  • Utilize hand and power tools, heavy machinery, and material handling equipment safely and effectively.
  • Document maintenance and repair activities, including parts usage and work orders, under supervision.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and accurately.
  • Comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory standards throughout all tasks.
