About The Position

Community Connections Inc. is seeking Developmental Specialists for its Day Center in Fall River, Massachusetts. The role provides one-to-one direct support to individuals with disabilities and contributes to the organization’s mission of promoting optimal independence and providing enriching services. The position calls for compassion, teamwork, and a commitment to serving the community. Work is in person, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., for 40 hours per week; weekends are free. The role may involve assisting individuals with toileting and feeding when required, and transporting individuals as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• At least one year of experience and/or training working with individuals with disabilities.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Acceptable criminal background check.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Strong computer and word-processing skills.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Ability to commute to Fall River, Massachusetts.

Responsibilities

• Implement objectives in individuals’ Day Habilitation Service Plans (DHSPs).
• Document individuals’ progress toward DHSP objectives.
• Provide physical assistance to individuals as necessary.
• Ensure individuals’ health, safety, and general well-being.
• Provide and maintain community-based habilitation and therapeutic experiences through social, recreational, and volunteer opportunities based on individuals’ needs and wishes.
• Transport individuals as assigned.
• Assist clients with toileting and feeding when required.
