About The Position

The School of Architecture Development Work-study student position will assist the UVA School of Architecture advancement team towards its mission of fundraising and engagement for the School. This role involves stewardship activities such as thanking donors, assisting with event logistics, conducting research on prospects and funding priorities, creating presentations, managing data, and drafting communications. Additionally, the student will serve as a project manager for the A-School Alumni Mentorship Program, assisting with pod matching, newsletters, and other programming. The position is open to undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students, with a preference for FWS eligible applicants. The role requires a time commitment of 10-15 hours per week, including a weekly 30-minute virtual team meeting.

Requirements

  • Ability to attend a weekly 30-minute virtual meeting (during work hours).
  • Ability to work independently on projects and research.
  • Comfortable with donor/alumni outreach.
  • Willingness to attend some local events.

Responsibilities

  • Thanking donors through phone calls, emails, letters, and short videos.
  • Assisting with Thank-a-donor day logistics in Spring.
  • Staffing events, drafting briefing books and bios, coordinating logistics, and providing office support.
  • Conducting research on prospects and funding priority areas.
  • Creating presentations.
  • Creating lists, analyzing data sets, and data visualization.
  • Drafting emails and invitations.
  • Serving as a liaison with student groups.
  • Project management for the A-School Alumni Mentorship Program.
  • Assisting with matching pods for the mentorship program.
  • Creating monthly newsletters for the mentorship program.
  • Assisting with additional mentorship program programming.

Benefits

  • Pay Range $16.50 /hour for undergrad and $18/hour for graduate students.
