About The Position

The City of Bothell is seeking a Development Review Supervisor to lead a team, guide complex development projects, and provide technical expertise in civil engineering and development review. This role involves shaping efficient processes, building community partnerships, and delivering high-quality development services. The position will initially be onsite for up to six months, with the potential to transition to a hybrid schedule. The default schedule is Monday - Friday, 7 am - 4 pm or 8 am - 5 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and develop assigned staff by delegating tasks and projects, prioritizing workloads, coordinating training, monitoring performance and results, reviewing work products for quality, and implementing organizational changes.
  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise in utilities, civil engineering, and project management.
  • Support and mentor staff throughout all phases of permitting and development, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, codes, and project schedules, both on- and off-site.
  • Build collaborative relationships and promote effective communication among the Development Services team—including Community Development, Building Department, and Community Risk Reduction—as well as the community, contractors, developers, and City departments.
  • Interpret and communicate City policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of development services programs and processes, including Design and Construction Standards, Municipal Code provisions, forms, and fee structures.
  • Develop work plans, program improvements, processes, and forecasts to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.
