About The Position

The Development Officer is responsible for implementing and coordinating comprehensive fundraising and/or engagement programs aimed at identifying, cultivating, and securing gifts in conjunction with the objectives and strategies related to the priorities of ASU Health. This includes a new pathways program for medical school, a health humanities program, and a new virtual medical school. In partnership with unit development directors within ASU Health, ASU Enterprise Partners, and university faculty and staff, this position will identify opportunities and develop engagement strategies for securing and maintaining donors across the spectrum of our constituency.

  • Ability to exercise good judgment, to demonstrate an understanding of ethics related to development activities, and to use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers, and others

  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Foundation and University business and confidential prospect information

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable working in donor/prospect computer database systems
  • Ability to represent the institution well and possess an advocate’s belief in the vision of ASU as the New American University

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree
  • One (1) to three (3) years of successful fundraising experience or transferrable experiences working with donors and prospects in higher education or athletics for applicable roles
  • Experience working in Salesforce and Workday
  • Knowledge of fundraising techniques including proposal development, prospect identification, fund solicitation, database management, donor tracking, and social networking and marketing tools in higher education

Responsibilities

  • Build a portfolio of new donors to secure gifts and grants that align with the ASU Health’s goals, campaign priorities, and performance metrics.
  • Contributes to the strategic planning and execution of fundraising and engagement activities.
  • Participates in developing and implementing best practices for donor engagement, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Facilitates connections between donors, prospects, and ASU through various events, communications, and opportunities.
  • Collaborates with ASU Health leadership to ensure cohesive solicitation efforts and marketing strategies.
  • Utilizes Salesforce to manage donor information and coordinates with research teams to advance prospects into the major gift pipeline.
  • Assists in managing and staffing ASUF and ASU events, enhancing donor engagement.
  • Supports specific development program tasks, including monitoring foundation fundraising and campaign progress.
  • Coordinates engagement strategies across the enterprise, focusing on maximizing faculty, staff, and student involvement.
  • Utilizes the University's databases and resources to effectively manage relationships with the ASU community.
