About The Position

The Development Inspectors within the Engineering, Planning, and Construction Division performs field inspections of development projects to ensure compliance with the District’s approved construction standards, as well as local, state, and federal code and regulations. The Development Inspector collaborates with various stakeholders, including internal teams, contractors, and consultants. This position is critical to ensuring that new infrastructure accepted by the District is held to high quality standards.

Requirements

Development Inspector I: Minimum of 3 (five) years of experience in inspection of water and wastewater infrastructure, Or inspection of public works projects, ideally within a governmental capacity.
Development Inspector II: Minimum of 5 (five) years of experience in inspection of water and wastewater infrastructure, Or inspection of public works projects, ideally within a governmental capacity.
Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License before employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license within 30 days of hire per state law).
Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check.

Responsibilities

Perform inspections on development projects to ensure compliance with plans and construction standards. Inspections will include, but are not limited to, pipelines and their appurtenances, manholes, fire hydrants, vaults, and services.
Ensure projects are completed according to contract drawings and specifications.
Coordinate with operations staff when necessary for tie-ins and service interruptions.
Assist in the resolution of conflicts and coordination where multiple development projects intersect or overlap.
Facilitate regular communication with project stakeholders, including internal teams contractors, and consultants.
Provide updates on project progress and alert relevant staff of discrepancies or issues with construction.
Provide updates to staff regarding potential changes or improvements of plans to better facilitate expansion or operation of Mustang’s system.
Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
Review project plans to identify risks prior to or early in the construction process.
Monitor risk factors throughout the project lifecycle and adjust plans as necessary to ensure project success.
Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, markups, and inspection records.
Report detailed project updates to the Director of Engineering & Development.
