About The Position

The RES Global Graduate Programme is a two-year development programme designed to provide graduates with meaningful work experience, professional development and exposure to different areas of the renewable energy industry. Over the course of the programme, graduates will complete three rotations of approximately eight months each across different teams, functions or business areas. Each rotation is designed to build technical capability, commercial awareness and leadership potential while helping graduates develop a broad understanding of RES and the renewable energy industry. Graduates will work on real projects, collaborate with experienced colleagues and be encouraged to take ownership of their development while making meaningful contributions to the business. Through a combination of structured learning, practical experience and professional development opportunities, graduates will build the skills and experience needed for a successful long-term career at RES. This role will be hybrid requiring a minimum of 4 days in office.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships across diverse teams and functions in both French and English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
  • A learning mindset, characterized by curiosity, initiative, adaptability, and a willingness to seek feedback and continuously develop.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality work.
  • Effective organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook); familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools is considered an asset.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and different rotational assignments while maintaining a positive and professional approach.
  • Confidence working in a dynamic, office-based environment, while effectively supporting both in-person and virtual collaboration.
  • Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and commitment to RES values, safety culture, and ethical business practices.
  • Expected to graduate from, or have graduated within the past two years from, a recognized post-secondary institution with a Bachelor's degree in one of the following disciplines: Renewable Energy, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Engineering (where relevant to renewable energy development). Other related disciplines may be considered based on business need.
  • Demonstrated academic achievement and a genuine interest in pursuing a career within the renewable energy industry.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally within Canada for project exposure, site visits, training activities, team meetings, and program development opportunities.
  • French (spoken and written) is required.
  • English (spoken and written) is required.
  • The position involves regular communication and collaboration with customers, suppliers, business partners, and stakeholders located outside Quebec, including throughout Canada and the United States. English proficiency is required to perform the duties associated with the role.
  • Must be able to pass a Canadian Abstract Process Review.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship, co-op, volunteer, or project experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, engineering, finance, business, or sustainability-related fields.
  • Experience participating in student leadership activities, team projects, or extracurricular initiatives.
  • Familiarity with project management principles, financial analysis, data analysis, or commercial business concepts.
  • Passion for renewable energy, sustainability, and contributing to the transition to a low-carbon future.

Responsibilities

  • Build a strong foundation in renewable energy development by supporting early-stage project work, including market research, site screening, permitting inputs, land, stakeholder, and project documentation activities.
  • Work with Development colleagues and project managers to understand the project lifecycle, track key milestones, prepare meeting materials, and contribute to real project deliverables.
  • Develop business awareness by learning how development decisions are made, documented, and progressed through internal governance and approval processes.
  • Participate in regular coaching and in-office learning.
  • Gain exposure to the Commercial function, including commercial strategy, customer considerations, contracting principles, revenue models, procurement inputs, and project economics.
  • Support commercial analysis, market research, bid or proposal materials, internal decision papers, and deliverables that help the business assess opportunities and risks.
  • Develop an understanding of how commercial decisions influence project viability, risk allocation, customer commitments, and overall business performance.
  • Complete this rotation with a clearly assigned Commercial mentor and structured touchpoints, recognizing that the graduate may be based in Montreal while the Commercial team provides support remotely.
  • Build financial and commercial acumen by supporting project budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cost tracking, variance analysis, and other finance-related activities.
  • Partner with Finance colleagues to understand how project financials, controls, approvals, and reporting requirements support effective business decision-making.
  • Assist with preparing financial summaries, tracking actions, maintaining accurate documentation, and contributing to analysis that supports project and business performance.
  • Where available, leverage local Finance support in Montreal to provide day-to-day coaching, guidance, and mentorship during this rotation.
