About The Position

Development Engineer II is an experienced software development role that delivers medium- to high-complexity development and automation work as part of a team. The role designs, codes, debugs, tests, and maintains software applications; develops solutions based on user and system needs; and contributes to reliable, secure, high-quality software products. The position works under moderate supervision, establishes priorities while supporting projects and processes, and develops specialized knowledge and skills. The engineer collaborates with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to define and deliver features, gather and translate customer requirements, and demonstrate completed work. The role participates in code reviews, mentors junior developers, documents software and technical changes, and contributes to project planning and timely delivery. It also involves keeping current with technology, researching tools and methods that may improve efficiency and performance, and continuously improving development processes. Team members are expected to use approved AI tools responsibly, protect sensitive information, follow company policies, and critically validate AI-generated outputs.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, a quantitative or engineering field, or relevant experience.
At least 1 year of relevant or practical experience.
Proficiency in at least two programming languages or two software tools.
Proficiency in at least one front-end or back-end framework.
Ability to use data engineering.
Ability to use version control, DevOps, and CI/CD.
Technical writing and diagramming skills.
Technical, business, or data analysis skills.
Communication skills, including influencing collaborative meetings and interacting with stakeholders.
Initiative in identifying and proposing development solutions.
Problem-solving ability to deliver medium- to high-complexity tasks.
Adaptability in developing specialized skills and knowledge.

Nice To Haves

Experience designing, building, and maintaining full-stack applications, including modern front-end frameworks, back-end services, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
Familiarity with optimization techniques, mathematical programming, or optimization solvers such as Gurobi, particularly for applications supporting complex business decisions.
Experience collaborating with data scientists and data engineers to integrate predictive models, analytical workflows, and data-driven decision capabilities into production applications.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools and integrating AI/ML capabilities into software applications.

Responsibilities

Deliver medium- to high-complexity development or automation tasks as part of a team.
Influence collaborative meetings with peers and stakeholders; gather requirements and demonstrate work.
Design, code, and debug applications using software languages and tools.
Develop software solutions by studying information needs, consulting users, and examining systems flow, data usage, and work processes.
Perform unit and integration testing.
Maintain and improve existing codebases, review peer code changes, and troubleshoot and resolve software defects.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and other cross-functional partners to define, design, and deliver features.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
Write and maintain technical documentation describing program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections.
Keep up to date with industry trends and technologies and research tools to improve efficiency and performance.
Participate in project planning, including estimating timeframes and resource requirements.
Manage tasks and deadlines to support timely project delivery.
Ensure software security and compliance with applicable industry standards and regulations, and implement data protection and security measures.
Interact with customers or end users to gather requirements and provide support; translate requirements into technical specifications.
Continuously improve development processes and methodologies and engage in ongoing learning and professional development.
