About The Position

North Star's mission is to restore women from trafficking: for freedom. for life. and forever. Motivated by the love of Jesus, we work to end trafficking and to empower survivors to reclaim the lives they were created to live through healing their whole person. In addition to other programs, North Star operates two programs in Lancaster and Berks counties and a separate social enterprise, Florissant Collective. The Development Coordinator supports North Star Initiative's fundraising and partner cultivation by coordinating day-to-day development activities and building meaningful relationships. This is a full-time (min. 40 hours), exempt position that reports directly to the Director of Development and Marketing.

Requirements

  • Minimum: Associate’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • One to two years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, event planning, nonprofit administration, marketing, or a related field
  • Awareness of the impact of human trafficking and trauma
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to speak in public
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and database systems
  • Must be over 21 years of age
  • Purposeful and intentional relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Enthusiastic about partnering with donors and colleagues to provide a healing place for residents
  • Understanding of sex trafficking, exploitation, addiction, and trauma-informed care
  • Cultural competency, ability to communicate effectively with individuals of all backgrounds and cultures
  • Flexibility in work schedule as determined by program needs. Some evenings and weekends will be required.
  • Able to remain calm in stressful situations and take initiative to resolve conflict.
  • Able to champion women who have experienced severe trauma with trauma-informed responses and a supportive stance
  • Able to work with sensitive information, using discretion for the safety and security of donors, residents and staff.
  • Able to maintain healthy boundaries.
  • A “self-starter” and driven to follow up on assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, business, public relations, or a related field, or relevant professional experience.
  • Three to five years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, event planning, nonprofit administration, marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience using donor database/CRM systems

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate warmth, intentionality and professionalism to cultivate human-centered donor relationships.
  • Process donations, receipts, donor acknowledgments, and maintain accurate donor and in-kind records in the Customer Relationship Management database.
  • Steward relationships through follow-up, communication, and relationship management for assigned monthly, annual and mid-level donors.
  • Provide effective, hospitable experiences for attendees at fundraising, awareness, and educational events from planning through follow-up, including logistics, vendors, team scheduling, attendance tracking, and host communication.
  • As a member of the Development and Marketing team, partner to execute fundraising campaigns, community outreach, presentations, and strategic engagement opportunities.
  • Cultivate community partnerships to invite financial and in-kind support for NSI
  • Assist with grant administration, fundraising reports, data management, and other development-related administrative responsibilities.
  • Maintain required documentation and comply with organizational policies and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Attend required meetings—including monthly staff meetings, trainings, and Development and Marketing initiatives—and demonstrate understanding of the content.
  • Complete a minimum of 20 hours of ongoing training every year.
  • Additional responsibilities as determined by program needs and/or assigned by the Director of Development and Marketing or Chief Executive Officer
