About The Position

The Development Coordinator is an integral member of the USA Triathlon Foundation team, supporting the day-to-day operations, fundraising efforts, donor engagement, and events that advance the Foundation's mission. Working closely with the Chief Development Officer and Senior Manager, Foundation Operations & Donor Engagement, this role provides broad support across nonprofit development, including donor stewardship, gift processing, Salesforce administration, fundraising campaigns, event execution, Foundation Ambassador engagement, Board of Trustees logistics, and donor communications. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, collaborative, and energized by working in a fast-paced environment. They bring strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for sport and the impact that philanthropy can have on athletes and communities. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career development professional to gain meaningful, hands-on experience across the full spectrum of fundraising and nonprofit operations while building relationships with donors, athletes, volunteers, corporate partners, and leaders within the triathlon community. This position is based at USA Triathlon headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with occasional travel and weekend work required during peak event periods.

Requirements

  • At least one year of relevant professional experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, events, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in the Olympic and Paralympic movement and a passion for sport, preferably triathlon or swimming, cycling, or running.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends, particularly during peak event season.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in nonprofit management, business, marketing, communications, sports management, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in nonprofit fundraising or development.
  • Experience in endurance sports, Olympic/Paralympic sport, or the broader sports industry.
  • Experience with donor engagement, online fundraising, or peer-to-peer fundraising platforms.
  • Experience with Salesforce or another nonprofit CRM.
  • Comfort with public speaking, group facilitation, or presenting to small groups.
  • Experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design and content-creation platforms.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit financial processes, expense tracking, or budget management.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, process, record, and acknowledge all gifts and funding received by the Foundation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintain accurate donor and gift records within the Foundation's Salesforce CRM.
  • Create and manage online donation pages, reports, donor lists, and other Salesforce tools to support fundraising and stewardship.
  • Maintain clean, accurate, and up-to-date donor data and assist with database reporting and segmentation.
  • Coordinate corporate matching gifts, donor benefits, and fulfillment activities.
  • Maintain and support the Foundation's GoFundMe giving platform and pages.
  • Partner closely with Finance and Foundation fundraising staff to support pledge tracking and fulfillment.
  • Travel occasionally to represent the Foundation and provide on-site support at donor events, activations, and other Foundation initiatives.
  • Support meaningful, timely, and personalized donor stewardship throughout the full life-cycle donor relationship.
  • Draft donor thank-you letters, emails, impact updates, and other communications in collaboration with the Foundation and Marketing & Communications teams.
  • Coordinate donor recognition activities, including milestones, birthdays, community spotlights, and other personalized stewardship opportunities.
  • Research prospective donors, corporate partners, and other stakeholders and prepare background briefs for Foundation leadership.
  • Support donor engagement campaigns and initiatives that strengthen relationships and demonstrate the impact of philanthropic support.
  • Help identify creative opportunities to connect donors with athletes, programs, events, and the broader triathlon community.
  • Support the planning and execution of annual giving campaigns, peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives, online giving campaigns, and other fundraising efforts.
  • Assist with special fundraising activations, including Youth Giving Day and annual donor thank-you initiatives.
  • Monitor fundraising activity and campaign performance in Salesforce and prepare updates for Foundation leadership.
  • Collaborate with Foundation staff to identify and develop new fundraising and donor engagement opportunities connected to triathlon events and community programs.
  • Provide administrative and operational support for pledge fulfillment and fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist with the development and execution of fundraising materials, communications, and donor-facing resources.
  • Support the day-to-day operations and engagement of the Foundation Ambassador team, helping create an informed, connected, and engaging experience for volunteers.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of Foundation events and donor experiences, including VIP hospitality, training camps, Games hospitality, and the annual Celebration of Sport.
  • Help create opportunities that connect athletes and programs with donors through storytelling, impact videos, virtual experiences, and live events.
  • Provide lead administrative and logistical support for special Foundation initiatives, including The Alexander Award, coordinating nominations, travel logistics, event details, and video storytelling in collaboration with the Foundation team.
  • Support the Foundation's presence at triathlon races, camps, community events, and other strategic opportunities for donor engagement.
  • Assist with on-site event logistics and execution, including materials, supplies, registration, hospitality, and donor-facing needs.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative and logistical support across the Foundation team.
  • Coordinate scheduling, meeting logistics, invoices, travel arrangements, and expense-report processes.
  • Support preparation for biannual Board of Trustees meetings, including scheduling, materials, meeting logistics, and distribution of information.
  • Maintain Foundation inventory, merchandise, supplies, and collateral.
  • Coordinate packing and shipping of Foundation materials for events and activations.
  • Support the Chief Development Officer with donor meeting scheduling, call reports, expense management, and special stewardship needs.
  • Maintain organized records and processes that support efficient Foundation operations.
  • Collaborate with USA Triathlon Marketing & Communications to develop and execute email campaigns that drive donor and community engagement.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of Foundation content across social media and the Foundation website.
  • Develop and coordinate creative and promotional materials for digital, print, and event use.
  • Help identify and leverage races, camps, community programs, and other USA Triathlon events as opportunities for donor storytelling and engagement.
  • Work with athletes, coaches, donors, and Foundation partners to help tell compelling stories that demonstrate the impact of philanthropy.
