About The Position

Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) is seeking ambitious, mission-aligned individuals for its Development Associate Program. This is a paid, part-time, fully remote, temporary program designed to train the next generation of fundraising professionals. As a Development Associate, you will be on the front lines of donor outreach, relationship-building, and revenue generation. This program offers hands-on training within YAL’s Development Department, focusing on supporting major donor fundraising efforts for both YAL and its sister organization, Young Americans for Liberty Foundation. The primary responsibilities include scheduling meetings with major donors, conducting prospect research, stewarding contributors through gratitude calls, and directly soliciting donations. You will track all interactions with precision and operate with a high level of professionalism. This is a performance-driven and growth-oriented role with structured training, reading assignments, and direct feedback over a six-month term, aiming to equip participants with foundational skills for a career in political fundraising. The position is a 3-month, part-time (20 hours per week), fully remote temporary role, running through September. High-performing associates may be considered for contract renewal or full-time opportunities.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to track calls, emails, texts, and notes with accuracy and consistency.
  • Clear and confident verbal and written communication skills; comfortable speaking on the phone and engaging new contacts.
  • Alignment with YAL’s mission and a genuine belief in the principles of individual liberty.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to conduct basic research and summarize findings clearly.
  • Professional, respectful, and tactful in all communications.
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail) and willing to learn CRM systems and outreach tools.
  • Able to manage assigned outreach lists and follow through on tasks without constant oversight.
  • Coachable, growth-oriented, and eager to develop new skills in fundraising and donor communication.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule Meetings with Major Donors: Work from an assigned list of donors and prospects to schedule meetings with YAL representatives, primarily via phone, with follow-up via text and email. Document all outreach activity thoroughly in CRM systems.
  • Conduct Donor Research: Research donor prospects to identify high-capacity individuals and prepare/submit research reports to the Donor Relations team, following established guidelines.
  • Donor Stewardship – Thank You Calls/Discovery Calls: Call donors to express appreciation for recent contributions and conduct Discovery calls with new YAL Donors, documenting detailed notes from each interaction.
  • Direct Donation Solicitation: Call donors from provided lists to request contributions, follow up via email and text as appropriate, and track/document all interactions.
  • Training & Personal Development: Complete assigned books and training materials, engage actively in training sessions, take detailed notes, and apply feedback.
