About The Position

The Development and Engagement Coordinator is a key member of the Fund Development team and plays an essential support role in advancing fundraising, donor relations, community partnerships, and engagement initiatives. This role participates in the execution of the fund development and donor relations plan by supporting campaigns, appeals, stewardship activities, events, third-party fundraising initiatives and corporate partnership deliverables. The Development and Engagement Coordinator uses the donor database as a core tool to support planning, coordination, and decision-making through engagement tracking, list management, segmentation, reporting, analysis, and information pulls. Reporting to the Community Partnerships Lead, the coordinator helps ensure that engagement activities are well-organized, donor-centred, and effectively implemented. The Development and Engagement Coordinator will be an integral part of the team, strengthening CMHA Edmonton’s fundraising infrastructure and advancing a high-quality donor experience.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working in nonprofit with advanced knowledge of and experience in using Raiser’s Edge
  • Knowledge of CRA rules and regulations
  • Capable of professionally interacting with variety of people, including board members, donors, volunteers, colleagues and staff.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Basic understanding of social media platforms, email marketing platforms, and design tools such as Canva.
  • Understanding of fundraising, donor relations, campaigns, and stewardship practices.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail‑oriented with consistent follow‑through.

Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of the fund development and donor relations plans through coordination of campaigns, appeals, donor relations activities, events, and partnership deliverables.
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of fundraising and engagement initiatives to ensure timelines, materials, and follow‑up activities are completed effectively.
  • Support donor relations activities, including the coordination and execution of acknowledgment and stewardship processes in alignment with donor relations best practices.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and track timely donor and partner acknowledgments, ensuring communications are accurate, donor‑centred, and aligned with organizational standards.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the donor experience through improved coordination, personalization, and use of data.
  • Prepare donor, partner, and prospect profiles, briefing notes, and meeting packages; support follow‑up tracking and documentation.
  • Conduct research to support identification, cultivation, and engagement strategies.
  • Identify donor, partner, and community engagement trends and flag insights that may inform future engagement opportunities.
  • Use the donor database as a tool to support fundraising and engagement activities through accurate data entry, coding, segmentation, and information management.
  • Execute list pulls, queries, reports, imports, and exports to support campaigns, stewardship and acknowledgment activities, marketing, events, and partnership initiatives.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date donor, partner, and prospect records, including engagement history, interactions, and activity tracking.
  • Maintain accurate records related to donor and partner acknowledgments, ensuring acknowledgment activity is properly documented and supports stewardship and engagement reporting.
  • Conduct regular data clean‑up and maintenance to ensure data quality, consistency, and usability.
  • Generate reports and analysis to support campaign evaluation, engagement tracking, and internal reporting needs.
  • Maintain documentation of database standards, processes, and best practices to support consistency across the Fund Development team.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team as needed to ensure consistency and alignment of fundraising and engagement data across systems.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for signature events, donor appreciation activities, and third‑party fundraising initiatives.
  • Support third‑party fundraisers by assisting the Community Partnerships Lead in inquiries, logistics, and event execution.
  • Assist with the coordination of partnership and community fundraising initiatives under the guidance of the Community Partnerships Lead.
  • Support CMHA Edmonton’s bingo and casino chairperson and finance department in planning Bingo and Casino events.
  • Support third‑party events by applying for AGLC licenses and assisting in the fulfillment of AGLC reporting requirements.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Fund Development team, including scheduling meetings, correspondence, and internal coordination.
  • Support cross‑departmental coordination related to fundraising operations, including communication and information sharing with Finance.
  • Respond to donor, partner, and public inquiries and monitor shared fundraising and event boxes.
  • Support volunteers and internal stakeholders involved in donor relations, fundraising, and engagement activities.
