About The Position

The Development Accountant at QuadReal Property Group supports the Development Accounting team on the Oakridge project, helping to maintain and document its financial status through the development lifecycle. The Development Accountant works under the guidance of the Senior Development Accountant, building foundational technical and non-technical development accounting skills while providing reliable day-to-day support.

Requirements

  • No prior development accounting experience required; recent graduates or candidates with up to 1 year of accounting experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Working knowledge of, or willingness to quickly learn, Yardi Voyager, Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills, with a genuine eagerness to learn.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, take direction well, and support others across competing deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic: driven, motivated to succeed, and proactive about asking questions and raising issues early.

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing, or planning to pursue, a professional accounting designation (CPA) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support job cost tracking, budgeting and forecasting for the Oakridge project in Yardi, helping to keep budgets, contracts, commitments and projected costs up to date and aligned with ARM and QuadReal internal policies.
  • Assist with coding and reviewing invoices, and support contract and change order setup in Yardi, to help ensure accuracy and alignment with budget.
  • Develop proficiency in Yardi to run reports and support data integrity for the Oakridge portfolio.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual reporting deliverables, such as working paper files, bank reconciliations, and GST/HST filings.
  • Support cash management activities, including funding requests and preparation of wire and internal transfer requests, as directed.
  • Assist with Oakridge month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, including preparing journal entries for job cost allocations, IFRS adjustments and amortization, and providing broader month-end support to the team.
  • Assist with maintaining sales deposit and commission trackers, and help prepare closing books for sales closings.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant internal controls and compliance requirements, escalating questions or issues to managers and team members as they come up.
  • Communicate proactively across functions, stay flexible and adaptable, and use technology effectively, including Excel and AI or productivity tools, to complete tasks efficiently.
