About The Position

The Developer – Strategic Origination is responsible for advancing early-stage development opportunities for Powered Data Parks, natural gas projects, and emerging technology initiatives. This role evaluates new opportunities, defines development pathways, coordinates stakeholder engagement, and prepares projects for successful transition into late-stage development. The position partners closely with Development, Real Estate, Permitting, Transmission, Engineering, Community Strategy & Engagement, and external stakeholders to reduce development risk and support strategic project advancement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Planning, Environmental Studies, Real Estate, Public Policy, Economics, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3-7 years of experience in project development, renewable energy, infrastructure, real estate, economic development, utilities, natural gas, data centers, or related industries.
  • Experience with early-stage project development, site diligence, permitting strategy, land acquisition, stakeholder engagement, or project planning.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously and influence cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in renewable energy development, large-scale infrastructure projects, powered data parks, or natural gas development.
  • Experience interacting with landowners, local governments, permitting agencies, and economic development organizations.
  • Familiarity with project feasibility analysis, entitlement processes, and development-stage risk assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead early-stage development activities for Powered Data Parks, gas development opportunities, and future technology initiatives.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new opportunities through site screening, infrastructure review, market assessment, stakeholder evaluation, and fatal-flaw analysis.
  • Develop project advancement plans that define land, permitting, interconnection, infrastructure, community, budget, schedule, and risk-mitigation needs.
  • Establish and manage path-to-land strategies, including parcel review, site control planning, landowner coordination, consultant support, and real estate diligence.
  • Establish and manage path-to-permit readiness activities, including ordinance review, jurisdictional analysis, permitting strategy, entitlement planning, and consultant coordination.
  • Coordinate with Real Estate, Permitting, Transmission, Engineering, Community Strategy & Engagement, Development, Marketing & Communications, and external consultants to align project workstreams.
  • Leverage Development team members, employees, consultants, and local advisors with community, regional, permitting, and stakeholder experience to strengthen project advancement.
  • Build and maintain relationships with landowners, local governmental units, economic development organizations, utilities, infrastructure providers, consultants, and other key stakeholders.
  • Track milestones, budgets, schedules, risks, assumptions, and readiness requirements to support advancement decisions.
  • Partner with the Community Strategy & Engagement Manager to align stakeholder engagement, community readiness, and local project positioning.
  • Prepare leadership updates, business cases, readiness summaries, risk assessments, and advancement recommendations.
  • Lead transition activities into late-stage development by transferring project history, documentation, risks, assumptions, stakeholder relationships, permitting strategy, and recommended next steps.
  • Travel as needed to support site development, landowner engagement, local meetings, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Other duties as assigned.
