Developer Relations Engineer

Applied Compute•San Francisco, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

As a Developer Relations Engineer, you will focus on technical content, demos, and distribution to help developers and researchers discover AC2, understand what they can build, and put it to work. You will work directly with researchers and engineers, run experiments, and turn results into useful technical resources. You will define the DevRel strategy and standards, with the opportunity to hire and lead a team as the function grows. The role includes building reproducible demos and cookbooks; explaining technical work through articles, walkthrough videos, and interactive demos; distributing technical resources to relevant developer audiences; educating developers through workshops and other events; helping organizations get started with AC2; and improving developer documentation and experience. Applied Compute builds continual learning infrastructure for enterprises to develop agent workforces trained on proprietary data and institutional expertise. Its researchers and platform work within customer environments to build evaluations, train models, and deploy agents that improve with use. The company describes its approach as product-led, research-enabled, and forward-deployed.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering background, with the ability to independently build, test, and debug useful demos and example applications.
  • Hands-on experience fine-tuning and evaluating language models, including the ability to explain training setup, evaluation design, and results.
  • A track record of clear technical writing, such as articles, tutorials, documentation, or other work that helps developers understand and apply technical concepts.
  • Experience getting technical work in front of developers and an interest in experimenting with new ways to reach and teach them.
  • Ability to listen closely, welcome technical feedback, acknowledge uncertainty, and help developers work through problems.
  • Judgment and initiative to define priorities, take projects from idea to publication, and build a function that can grow beyond one's own work.

Nice To Haves

  • Partner with researchers to publish technical articles, walkthrough videos, and interactive demos that explain methods, results, tradeoffs, and limitations.
  • Distribute technical work through X, GitHub, developer communities, and collaborations; experiment with topics and formats and use audience response to improve content and distribution.
  • Educate developers through workshops, livestreams, office hours, relevant events, and a tutorial series spanning evaluation, training, and deployment.
  • Help new organizations get set up with AC2, run their first evaluation and training job, and interpret results.
  • Turn developer questions and recurring problems into reusable resources.
  • Improve quickstarts and troubleshooting guides, and bring specific, reproducible problems to engineering to help prioritize improvements.
