Developer III
About The Position
DPP is seeking a Developer III for an opportunity with our client in the healthcare insurance industry. This role is a W2 contract position with a duration of 11 months. The work location is hybrid in Columbia, SC, requiring onsite presence on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and as needed. The candidate must be a US Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a low-level (Public Trust) clearance. The Tech Support / Mainframe Programming Support Team consists of 8 personnel with diverse skill levels, focused on supporting customers and evolving mainframe software development over the next 5-10 years, including the tools and technologies for the developer experience on the mainframe.
Requirements
- JCL experience.
- Experience with Security Reporting (using SORT/SyncSort).
- Query skills (DB2/SQL/IMS).
- 4 years of application development, systems testing or other job-related experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job-related degree; OR 4 years of job-related work experience; OR 2 years of job-related experience plus an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job-related degrees.
Nice To Haves
- Source Control (GitHub, Endevor, IBM DBB, ChangeMan).
- FreezeFrame or DumpMaster.
- COBOL programming.
- Being able to translate technical issues into business impact and the potential time savings changes can provide.
- Helping to bridge our technical know-how with the customers’ demands and future needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day support for application development teams utilizing mainframe development tools and utilities.
- Assist developers with troubleshooting development, testing, and implementation issues.
- Support code promotion, testing, and deployment activities.
- Partner with customers to identify process improvements and development efficiencies.
- Participate in modernization initiatives focused on improving developer productivity.
- Assist in maintaining development support documentation, standards, and procedures.
- Support application-level security administration and access requests as needed.
- Participate in vendor tooling initiatives, upgrades, and support activities.
- Assist with Disaster Recovery exercises and business continuity activities.
