Developer Advocate, MAX Inference & Serving (Copy)

ModularUnited States / Canada,
$150,200 - $225,400Hybrid

About The Position

Modular is building Mojo, a new systems programming language that allows developers to write fast code for diverse hardware, from CPUs to GPUs and beyond, without vendor lock-in. Mojo is designed to support modern AI workloads and is the best way to extend Python, enabling teams to move performance-critical code into Mojo incrementally. A growing community of ML engineers, systems programmers, and researchers is adopting Mojo. This role involves championing Mojo within the developer community by creating technical content such as tutorials and blog posts, giving talks at conferences, and leading workshops to help developers become productive with Mojo. The position is an opportunity to join a world-leading product team and help define the growth of a new systems programming language.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience creating technical content for developer audiences. Send us a portfolio: blog posts, tutorials, videos, docs, or courses.
  • Strong Python skills, plus real systems programming experience in Mojo, C++, Rust, or similar. Comfortable talking about memory management, SIMD, and parallelism.
  • Understanding of where Mojo sits relative to Python, C++, Rust, and CUDA, and ability to speak credibly to developers coming from any of them about the trade-offs.
  • Ability to learn new tools fast and produce accurate content quickly.
  • Ability to record, edit, and publish a technical video without a production team (clear audio, good pacing, technically correct).
  • Excellent writing skills; ability to explain complex ideas without losing precision and cut filler.
  • A growth and leadership mindset, with a collaborative attitude that seeks to learn more from customers, team members, and the broader market.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience programming GPUs using Mojo, CUDA or ROCm.
  • Familiarity with open source software development practices and communities.
  • Familiarity with the MAX Platform's inference and serving capabilities.
  • Experience producing high-quality videos covering technical topics.

Responsibilities

  • Write technical educational content that explain Mojo's language features, performance characteristics, and where it fits alongside Python, C++, Rust, and CUDA.
  • Act as the voice of the developer community internally, feeding language and tooling feedback back to the Mojo engineering team, shaping the language's roadmap.
  • Establish, run and publish benchmarks comparing Mojo to other systems programming languages.
  • Engage with the community across GitHub, Discord, Twitter/X, and LinkedIn by facilitating discussions, answering questions, and providing support.
  • Represent Modular at conferences, summits, and industry events through presentations, panel discussions, and networking with industry professionals.
  • Provide support and respond to questions from developers evaluating Mojo, including engineers at some of the world's largest corporations.
  • Collaborate with the Mojo language and compiler teams to create tutorials, videos, and examples that show developers how to write fast, safe systems code, including on GPUs.
  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for ML engineers and systems programmers learning Mojo.
  • Contribute to Modular's broader developer relations, product, and marketing strategies.
