About The Position

The Developer works closely with ERP functional staff and other ERP team members to ensure accuracy and completeness of functional requirements, create technical specifications and develop programs according to specifications. The Developer is responsible for technical component delivery and participates in full integration testing and assumes responsibility for testing the application code from a technical perspective to verify that programs follow standards and meets technical specifications. The Developer will actively participate in work groups and work sessions with functional and technical staff.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of experience in Computer Science, computer engineering, software engineering or related field.
  • Four years of experience in ABAP.

Nice To Haves

  • Six (6) years of experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • One year of experience in Project Management.
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
  • SAP Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain SAP applications and enhancements
  • Evaluate SAP platform capabilities, including SAP BTP, Integration Suite, Fiori, APIs, automation, and other emerging technologies, and recommend use based on County needs.
  • Translate functional requirements from County departments into technical specifications.
  • Develop reports, forms, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and workflows while following coding standards, naming conventions, transport procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Evaluate existing customizations and technical solutions and retire, simplify, modernize, or redesign them using current SAP capabilities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for custom development, integrations, configurations, and extensions to support technical inventory, troubleshooting, lifecycle management, and knowledge transfer.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate repetitive technical and business processes using appropriate SAP, integration, workflow, scripting, or other approved automation capabilities
  • Identify technical debt, obsolete customizations, unsupported approaches, and lifecycle risks and contribute to plans for remediation and modernization.
  • Develop and support interfaces between SAP and external systems.
  • Use approved integration methods such as APIs, IDocs, RFCs, OData services, middleware, flat-file transfers, and SAP Integration Suite where applicable.
  • Validate data quality, handle exceptions, monitor interface processing, and coordinate with SAP team members and vendor teams to resolve technical issues without disrupting operations.
  • Assess existing integrations for reliability, maintainability, monitoring, technical debt, and modernization opportunities and recommend improvements.
  • Perform unit testing, support system/integration testing and user acceptance testing, and prepare deployment documentation for changes moving through SAP landscape.
  • Diagnose application defects, performance issues, failed jobs, authorization-related behavior, and data inconsistencies; identify root causes and implement corrections.
  • Maintain technical documentation, participate in change-management processes, and provide production support that protects system availability, data integrity, and auditability.
  • Support adoption of technical standards and practices that improve security, reliability, observability, maintainability, upgradeability, and reuse.
