About The Position

The Lockheed Martin Next Generation Geo (NGG) team is seeking an experienced level 4 DevOps Engineer with an active Secret clearance to work from either their Boulder, CO or Longmont, CO location. This is a Mid-SR (level 4) role where candidates typically have 5+ years of professional experience and a BS degree. The SBIRS and the Next‑Gen GEO OPIR ground stations form the backbone of the United States’ missile‑warning architecture. By delivering near‑real‑time, high‑confidence detection of ballistic missile launches and other hostile trajectories, these systems provide life‑saving early warning for the warfighter, enable rapid decision‑making, and support cueing of defensive interceptors and command‑and‑control assets. Your work will directly protect troops, allies, and critical infrastructure worldwide. The Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Infrastructure Team is seeking a DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate the ground‑station platform that supports both SBIRS and the Next‑Gen GEO OPIR ground stations. You will work hand‑in‑hand with infrastructure engineers and mission specialists to automate provisioning, configuration, and continuous‑delivery pipelines for ultra‑reliable, secure, and scalable ground‑systems.

Requirements

Proficiency with Git and Git based development workflows.
Experience with Ansible and/or Terraform, or familiarity with other IaC toolsets.
Familiarity with Python, Bash, or other shell scripting languages.
Hands on experience using, troubleshooting, and/or administering Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS), with a solid understanding of command line usage, package management, system/service management, and security configuration.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, effectively communicate technical concepts, generate and maintain technical documentation, foster inclusive teamwork, and drive shared solutions to meet project objectives.
Demonstrated ability to lead team…etc
Ability to obtain Sec+ certification within 60 days of onboarding.
Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with containerization concepts and the use of Docker and/or Podman.
Knowledge of container orchestration platforms – Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
Experience writing and maintaining Helm charts for deployment to the above platforms.
Understanding of software classifications and controls (COTS, GOTS, FOSS, etc.) within secure operating environments.
Experience with GitLab and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
Experience with static code analysis tools (Fortify, SonarQube, Coverity, etc.).
Familiarity with vSphere or AWS for on prem or cloud virtualization.
Basic understanding of networking diagnostics and concepts.
Active Sec+ (or equivalent IAT Level II) certification.
Prior DevOps or automation focused software development background.
Understanding of CI/CD concepts and the orchestration of pipelines using GitLab or Jenkins.
Active TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

Designing and implementing solutions using IaC, automation tools, and DevSecOps methodologies to facilitate the deployment, maintenance, and operation of OPIR Ground System infrastructure
Working with software developers and test engineers to deploy, integrate, test, and support complex systems built from internally developed software products, across multiple operational environments
Maintaining multiple technology stacks built on top of several forms of virtualized infrastructure, and ensuring that our various container baselines meet all technical as well as security hardening requirements
Driving the continued improvement of our Ground System baseline through the application of modern DevSecOps standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
