About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a full-time Detention Security Officer Armed in Charleston, South Carolina, to support a government correctional environment. The officer conducts routine patrols, maintains a visible security presence, responds to security concerns, and provides professional communication and customer service. This is a driving position requiring a valid driver’s license. The pay rate is $18.50 per hour. The listed schedule is Monday, Tuesday, and Sunday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license in the state where the job is located.
At least 1 year of law enforcement experience, 2 or more years of security-related supervisor or manager experience, or 3 or more years of security-related experience.
Armed guard card or license.
At least 21 years of age for armed roles.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
Licensing requirements may apply under state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required before employment.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and authorized personnel by carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities in a correctional facility.
Conduct regular and random unarmed foot and/or vehicle patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, access points, and perimeter areas; identify and report unusual activity or conditions.
Monitor access to designated areas, verify credentials as directed, maintain visitor and vehicle logs, and report unauthorized access attempts according to site procedures.
Respond calmly to incidents, alarms, disturbances, and critical situations; notify appropriate facility personnel and emergency responders when required.
Prepare accurate daily activity reports, incident documentation, and shift logs in accordance with company and site-specific requirements.
