About The Position

CoreCivic is seeking a Detention Officer to provide care and direct supervision of inmates/residents in a secure institutional setting. The role performs routine duties under established policies, regulations, and procedures to maintain order and ensure the security and care of residents in housing units, during meals and recreation, on work assignments, and throughout other facility activities. The officer may employ weapons or force to maintain discipline and order. The position is responsible for residents’ order, safety, and security in a correctional facility and may involve interchangeable assignments in areas such as armory/key control, housing units, kitchen, medical, and visitation. Officers must be able to work any post assignment on any shift.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent.
Complete pre-service correctional officer training.
Where applicable, hold a non-commissioned security officer license in the state of employment.
Valid driver's license and clear driving record.
Ability to complete required training established or necessary to meet contract requirements and/or standards.
At least 18 years of age.
Ability to work any post assignment on any shift.
