About The Position

The Detention Officer performs routine duties in accordance with established policies, regulations, and procedures to maintain order and provide security, care, and direct supervision of inmates/residents in a correctional facility. Duties may take place in housing units, at meals, during recreation, on work assignments, and during other facility activities. The officer may employ weapons or force to maintain discipline and order and must be able to work any post assignment on any shift.

The role is responsible for resident order, safety, and security and may involve interchangeable assignments in areas including armory/key control, housing units, kitchen, medical, and visitation.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent.
• Complete pre-service correctional officer training.
• Where applicable, hold a non-commissioned security officer license in the state of employment.
• Valid driver's license and clear driving record.
• Ability to complete required training established or necessary to meet contract requirements and/or standards.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Able to work any post assignment on any shift.
