About The Position

CoreCivic is seeking a Detention Officer to provide security, care, and direct supervision of inmates/residents in an institutional, secure correctional setting. The officer performs routine duties in accordance with established policies, regulations, and procedures to maintain order across housing units and other facility activities. The role may involve employing weapons or force to maintain discipline and order. Officers must be able to work any post assignment on any shift and in interchangeable work areas, including armory/key control, housing units, kitchen, medical, and visitation.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED certification, or equivalent.
• Complete pre-service correctional officer training.
• Where applicable, hold a non-commissioned security officer license in the state of employment.
• Valid driver's license and clear driving record.
• Ability to complete required training established or necessary to meet contract requirements and/or standards.
• At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order, safety, and security of residents in a correctional facility.
• Provide care and direct supervision of inmates/residents in housing units, at meals, during recreation, on work assignments, and during other phases of facility activity.
• Perform routine duties according to established policies, regulations, and procedures.
• Work in interchangeable areas, including armory/key control, housing units, kitchen, medical, and visitation.
• Employ weapons or force when necessary to maintain discipline and order.
• Work any post assignment on any shift.
