About The Position

Goodhue County is actively recruiting qualified applicants for the Detention Deputy position in the Sheriff's Office. We are looking for correctional career minded individuals. The primary responsibilities of the Detention Deputy include supervising detainees within the detention center housing units, performing well-being checks, booking and releasing detainees (fingerprinting, mugshots, searches, etc.), security inspections to ensure the safety of detention staff and detainees, implementing the policies and procedures of the detention center, and other responsibilities as detailed in the job description. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to pass a thorough background investigation
• Possess a valid driver's license
• Stooping, bending, sitting, walking, running, climbing, unusual position, and ability to restrain detainees
• Moderate to heavy forces (40-80 pounds) including twisting and torqueing

Nice To Haves

• Ability to react in a professional manner in a high stress environment
• Effective verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of basic computer operations including data entry, Windows 10 and higher, MS Word and Outlook
• Knowledge of radio equipment and etiquette
