About The Position
TheTravel is seeking freelance travel writers to produce articles about destinations, parks, accommodations, and trips based on their own travel experiences. Writers should provide honest, practical recommendations to help readers decide what is worthwhile, what to skip, and how to plan. Applicants may include travel writers, bloggers, creators with published work, travel advisors, tour operators, and hospitality professionals who write. Writers will pitch and produce articles, track performance to improve future work, follow TheTravel's Editorial Guidelines, implement feedback from the Lead Editor, and submit work consistently by deadlines. The role offers flexible scheduling and fully remote work, competitive compensation for strong and consistent performers, and exposure for the writer's byline and photos to TheTravel's audience of 8 million monthly visitors. TheTravel is part of Valnet Publishing Group, which requires contributors to follow its Editorial Standards, including a prohibition on using artificial intelligence. A writing evaluation may be required during the application process.
Requirements
- At least 3 years producing travel content, or professional experience in the travel or hospitality industry, plus published writing.
- A bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Submit a CV, cover letter, and at least one sample article similar to content published on TheTravel.
- Adhere to Valnet's Editorial Standards, including the prohibition on using artificial intelligence.
