Location: Plano, TX Job Type: Full-Time Department: Information Technology Reports To: IT Manager Schedule: Monday–Friday (occasional after-hours and weekend work required) About the Role We are seeking a skilled and experienced Desktop Technician to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the support, maintenance, and optimization of our IT infrastructure as it relates to the user/desktop environment, encompassing Windows, Linux, and macOS environments. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • 2-5+ years of experience in IT systems support or systems administration
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Windows environment, Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, Alma, RHEL), and macOS a plus
  • Experience managing Exchange Server (on-premises) from ECP
  • Familiarity with anti-virus and anti-malware tools and policies
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or Apple Certified Support Professional (ACSP)
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls)
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) are a plus
  • Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, and related systems across Windows, Linux, and macOS platforms.
  • Support Exchange Server (on-premises), including mailbox configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Deploy and monitor anti-virus and anti-malware implementations for end users.
  • Ensure systems are secure and compliant with organizational standards.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex desktop issues.
  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support across operating systems and applications.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, network diagrams, and system configuration records.
  • Provide occasional support outside of regular business hours, including maintenance for windows, participate in system upgrades, and/or emergency troubleshooting.
