About The Position

Our Sacramento office is currently seeking a Desktop Support Specialist. This position is responsible for installing and maintaining computer systems, ensuring that they are fully useable and perform efficiently. This position aims to provide the highest quality service to the customers of the Information Systems department at Degenkolb Engineers. Support of other computer-related hardware, such as mobile phones, printers, and conference room equipment, must be maintained or serviced to ensure optimal user performance. In addition, system inventory, accounts, and interoperability management must be maintained.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Help Desk or computer support environment.
  • Knowledge of major components of a computer system in both hardware and software.
  • Deployment and management of Windows OS.
  • Certification in Information Technology and/or college-level computer classes from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft Azure (Entra ID), and Office 365.
  • Ability to travel, including occasional overnight trips (up to 40%). Some international travel may be required.
  • Technical and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, time management, and experience working with multiple users/clients.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in IT/Computer Science.
  • CompTIA A+ and/or Microsoft certifications are a plus.
  • Office 365 support experience, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Troubleshooting and assisting with programs in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industry, including Autodesk, RISA, and CSi applications, among others.
  • Able to occasionally lift, move, and/or relocate items of up to 40 pounds.
  • Basic understanding of server and network infrastructure is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of remote assistance software such as Remote Desktop, ScreenConnect, and/or Quick Assist.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and set up computer systems through imaging and other SaaS solutions.
  • Record and complete service requests in the ticketing system.
  • Understand computer maintenance and adhere to regular maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain computer-related equipment such as printers and print servers.
  • Develop a knowledge growth plan.
  • Collaborate with the Desktop Team and Information Systems group to resolve technical issues.
