This role is responsible for facilitating the scheduling and rescheduling of patient visits, coordinating complex appointment schedules across multiple medical specialty practices, and serving as a direct contact and resource for patients and medical care teams. The specialist will obtain or verify patient demographics and medical insurance information, process financial screenings, and review appointment preparation instructions with patients. Proficient communication through various channels, including electronic and verbal, is essential, along with meeting service level standards. Administrative duties include processing ABN forms, insurance verification, and managing patient appointment communications. The role requires skillful navigation of multiple electronic applications, devices, and medical equipment, such as electronic medical records, iPads/tablets, and patient kiosks. Independent identification of improvement opportunities and offering creative solutions are key. Flexibility, including cross-coverage and travel, may be required, along with the willingness to adjust work schedules based on department or clinical needs. Accuracy and thoroughness in all patient-related activities, including electronic communication, are critical.
