About The Position

Floor & Decor Designers provide consultative design services from start to finish, building lasting customer relationships and brand loyalty. They meet with customers to understand project needs, explain project requirements, and create design concepts that reflect each customer’s personal style, lifestyle, and budget.

Designers advise homeowners, interior designers, and builders on tile, wood, stone, and accessories for residential and commercial projects. They develop and sell complete design solutions, manage multiple customer projects through the phases leading to installation, and communicate consistently with customers, store leadership, and employees. The role also supports store initiatives and goals, keeps current with design trends, and uses company design applications and communication tools.

Requirements

• At least one year of interior design experience or prior retail/sales experience.
• Proficient in basic mathematical skills.
• Self-motivated and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer knowledge, including the Microsoft Office suite.
• Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position.

Nice To Haves

• A degree in Design.
• Knowledge of hard surface flooring.

Responsibilities

• Greet store customers helpfully and support walk-in design needs.
• Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers.
• Develop clientele through networking, referrals, and leads generated within the store.
• Provide tile, wood, stone, and accessories advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for residential and commercial projects.
• Design and sell complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions.
• Manage multiple simultaneous customer projects through all phases with accuracy, timeliness, follow-up, and consistent, concise communication.
• Use company communication tools and email consistently and proficiently.
• Collaborate and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation and achieve sales and other goals.
• Support company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees.
• Engage with current and emerging design trends in the market.
• Understand and use design applications, including Salesforce, the proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, and MyProject.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
