About The Position

Weber Engineering is seeking an experienced professional in the precision manufacturing sector to join their team. This hands-on role involves working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary tool shop where you’ll collaborate with a team of professionals across all departments of their facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in designing in precision manufacturing and be ready to bring value to operations and take ownership of impactful projects.

Requirements

Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in a precision manufacturing or tool shop environment.
Proficient with machining tools and principles; hands-on CNC and/or mold-making experience is strongly preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Develop detailed design models using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
Collaborate with other engineers, machinists, and Mold makers to ensure feasibility of design and alignment with manufacturing capabilities.
Perform Design Reviews and Revisions: Conduct regular reviews of designs for functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. Incorporate feedback from cross-functional teams to improve performance and reliability. Ensure adherence to safety standards and maintain a clean, efficient workspace.
Choose appropriate materials for mold bases, cores, cavities, and inserts, considering factors like durability, heat resistance, and cost.
Support initial mold trials to validate performance and ensure the design meets production and quality requirements.
Stay Current with Industry Trends and Standards: Keep up to date with advancements in mold design, materials, and tooling techniques to continuously improve design effectiveness.
Document work processes and actively participate in improvement initiatives.
