About The Position

Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.

Requirements

Associate's degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years experience OR HS/GED and 10yrs work experience in a related discipline.
A complete understanding of ship design practices and blueprint reading skills are required.

Nice To Haves

Background in Electrical Power, Lighting, Interior Communication, Systems. Arrangement , Cableway and Combat Systems Design
Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Suite.

Responsibilities

Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal.
Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.
Applicant will be directly involved in the Quality Assurance and the development of in Electrical Power, Lighting, Interior Communication, Systems. Arrangement , Cableway and Combat Systems drawings and other products associated with U.S. Naval ship modifications and overhauls.
Applicant will also be responsible for ensuring all technical requirements are fully compiled into deliverable products while following applicable procedures and standards.
