About The Position

Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.

Requirements

Associate's degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years experience. (combination of education and experience in lieu of degree)
Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite.
A complete understanding of ship design practices and blueprint reading skills are required.
Familiarity with all components of US Navy Naval Architecture Systems is preferred.
Possess a full understanding in ship design, blueprint reading and Quality Assurance.

Responsibilities

Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications.
Applicant will be directly involved in the Quality Assurance and development of Naval Architechure and Outfitting drawings and other products associated with U.S. Naval ship modifications and overhauls.
Applicant will also be responsible for ensuring all technical requirements are fully complied into deliverable products while following applicable procedures and standards.
