Designer

JDO GlobalNew York, NY
Hybrid

About The Position

We’re growing our JDO New York team – and we’re looking for exceptional talent to join us. Our brand design studio sits on sunny Madison Avenue, home to a tight-knit, high-performing team that combines boutique energy with global impact. JDO may feel intimate day-to-day – collaborative, hands-on, creatively ambitious – but we’re also part of one of the world’s most respected independent creative networks. That means big thinking, global reach, and serious opportunity, without the constraints of shareholder-led decision making. We work with some of the world’s best-loved and most trusted brands, from billion-dollar global icons to ambitious craft start-ups. Our portfolio spans household names in spirits, beauty, and personal care, alongside emerging challengers shaping the future of their categories. It’s the kind of client mix that demands world-class thinking and gives you the chance to make work that genuinely lands in culture. We're small but mighty! Our North America business has strong foundations and real momentum. We’re not starting from scratch; we’re building from strength. And as we grow, we’re being incredibly selective about who joins us. We’re looking for the very best US talent: people who want to do outstanding work in a team where every individual truly matters.

Requirements

  • Around 3–5 years’ experience in a brand, packaging or design studio environment.
  • Quality of work.
  • Creative thinking.
  • Ability to contribute confidently as part of a small team.

Responsibilities

  • Creative thinking & crafting excellence: Own your craft with growing confidence, generating bold, beautiful ideas and refining them into standout creative. Balance concept and execution, pushing the work while sweating the details. Experiment with AI tools to elevate craft, streamline iteration and bring new angles to your ideas.
  • Strategic & brand alignment: Translate brand strategy into relevant, distinctive design. Be thoughtful about the brief and brave enough to challenge it when needed; always constructively, always with care. Look beyond the task to the broader opportunity, helping steer work that resonates.
  • Studio process & project delivery: Manage your workload independently, prioritizing smartly and delivering with consistency. Ensure files are clean, structure is intuitive, and communication keeps projects flowing. Spot risks early and work with others to keep the creative on track.
  • Team collaboration & contribution: Be a steady, positive presence in the team, supporting others with insight, encouragement and reliability. Bring fresh references, thoughtful feedback and a generous approach to critique. Help create a team dynamic where creativity can thrive.
  • Leadership & mentoring: Lead by example, not by hierarchy but by action. Help create the conditions for your team to succeed: by being clear, reliable and inclusive. Share your learnings, bring calm under pressure and model what ‘on it’ looks like.
  • Commercial acumen: Take ownership of your time and the creative value you bring. Understand how time tracking supports project health, and how scoping affects creative freedom. Stay aware of budgeted hours and make choices that protect both quality and viability.
