We boldly go. As Designer III at Trane Technologies, you will be a key member of a high performing team of mechanical and electrical designers for Commercial HVAC Air Handler products. In this Design to Order (DTO) role, you will be responsible for drafting and designing customizations to existing products that meet our customers' requirements, including managing the documentation. You will contribute to developing concepts for new & improved commercial HVAC product customizations and solve complex technical problems leading to production of sustainable new products. This will require an individual to be well-versed in CAD design and have the ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams. Requirements

Associate’s degree (AA) in Drafting, Design Technology, or a related field and 3+ years of experience.
Experience in SolidWorks, Creo Parametric, Creo Schematics, Inventor, or ProEngineer.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Working knowledge and experience in assigned areas, such as; change control, bill of material, product definition & selection, machine design, castings, fabrication, sheet metal, electrical, electronics, heat transfer, piping and welding.
In-depth knowledge and familiarity of design and drafting standard practices, methods and processes.
Ability to make sketches, 2D and 3D engineering drawings and common computations.

Responsibilities

Work independently and with Engineering to create parts, assemblies, and layouts in Creo Parametric.
Produce and develop designs and documentation utilizing computer design and product life cycle management systems.
Create necessary supporting documentation utilizing a multitude of systems and applications.
Ability to recognize and recommend possible solutions for potential design or product configuration problems.
Knows the degree of care and accuracy required of assignments and detects or corrects own errors as well as errors of others.
Translate verbal and/or written instructions into drawings of HVAC products.
Create assemblies and sheet metal parts utilizing a 3D CAD modeling software.
Perform various forms of technical support, including answering questions from other departments relative to drawings or design data.
Adhere to all company safety and security policies and procedures.
Work using independent judgment with support of senior staff.
Manage project schedules to meet deadlines on live customer orders.
Able to direct tasks or efforts for self and potentially others on projects or assignments.
Work collaboratively within a small team, and cross-functionally with various other teams.
