About The Position

This role involves contributing to the success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design. The Designer II assists in generating creative and innovative design ideas, concepts, and solutions as an integral member of the design team. They generate drawings under supervision for schematic design, design development, and construction documents. The role also includes performing product research, assisting with material selections, and preparing client presentation materials with critical and creative judgment. The Designer II uses a creative approach to complete tasks within project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring organized, timely, and consistent work. They self-check their work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and document compliance. The position encourages curiosity about the design world and industry, taking increasing ownership of tasks, and participating in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups. Open communication within the team and with the designated team leader is essential, as is the ability to communicate ideas in an inspiring way and coordinate effectively with partners and consultants. Obtaining an architectural license will result in a title change to Architect II, but does not automatically predicate the title to Project Architect. Advancement to subsequent positions is contingent upon fulfilling the requirements of that role.

  • Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation
  • Preparing for ARE and active involvement in AXP
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or related discipline required

  • Self-checks work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual.
  • Expresses curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large.
  • Takes increasing ownership of tasks within project teams and studio activities.
  • Participates in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups.
