About The Position

Looking for the opportunity to join an innovative, creative team of talented individuals? Our Los Angeles Studio is seeking a Designer l to join our amazing team. As a Designer I on our team you will provide assistance throughout the design process under routine guidance; contribute to the overall success of the team by adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design. You will support the preparation of creative and innovative design ideas, concepts, and solutions while participating as an integral member of the design team. You will provide design support under supervision for schematic design, design development, and construction documents. You will perform product research and assist the team with material selections. You will also assist in preparing client presentation materials using design application skills and creative ideas. You will use a creative approach to perform tasks and responsibilities on projects in an organized, timely, and consistent way. You will self-check your work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and compile data for document compliance in accordance with the Project Delivery Manual. You will proactively ask questions and express curiosity about the world of design and the industry at large. You will provide support to tasks within project teams (may focus on individual detailed tasks) and studio activities. You will participate in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups. You will keep open communication within the team and with the designated team leader. You will communicate ideas and thoughts in a way that inspires others. You will also assist with coordination among partners and consultants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or related discipline required
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling, visualization, and graphic software; Revit strongly preferred.
  • Additional proficiencies may include site analysis, preliminary design studies, and field measurements.
  • Additional skills should include Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, Lumion, and Rhino.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem solving skills, attention to detail, and motivation to learn.
  • Collaborative and professional work ethic.
  • LEED GA within 6 months of hire
  • Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation
  • Active involvement in AXP, or starting the ARE Process
