About The Position

Arizona Public Service (APS) generates reliable, affordable, and clean energy for 2.7 million Arizonans. The Designer I prepares or assists in developing design drawings, design change notices, bills of materials, and other documents required for facility or plant modifications, equipment, and other projects. Work is performed with direction and review from higher-level Designers or a Team Lead. The role prepares and revises selected drawings and documentation for the installation, modification, and operation of electrical and electronic facilities or equipment. Documentation may include structural and physical layouts, block and signal diagrams, wiring and schematic diagrams, bills of materials, requisitions, and shop orders, developed using manual or CADD techniques and related software. The Designer I gathers and develops engineering data, investigates field conditions, performs studies and computations, compiles project documentation, and maintains design configuration documents. The position is onsite and requires work in the field and/or at an APS facility. Depending on the role’s responsibilities, this may include a power plant, job site, or community location. Employees are expected to reside in Arizona, or in New Mexico if based at Four Corners. Role types may change based on business need.
