About The Position

BlueScope Buildings North America's Engineering department provides safe, innovative, high-quality structural and construction engineering solutions, prioritizing cost efficiency and supporting internal teams and external customers. The Designer I uses engineering systems and drawings to provide project coordination, structural design services, and models for customers. The role supports designs for detailing and manufacturing while helping ensure structural integrity and safety. The position is suited to candidates who hold a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and are interested in developing their technical knowledge in a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
• Strong technical and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and solve problems.

Responsibilities

• Provide project coordination, structural design services, and models for customers using engineering systems and drawings.
• Provide well-utilized member and connection designs for detailing and manufacturing that meet customer requirements.
• Assure building structural integrity and safety.
• Develop basic product and procedure knowledge and improve technical knowledge.
• Support department objectives, profitability goals, and continuous improvement as part of a high-performance work team.
• Meet design schedules to ensure customer design service needs are met.
• Collaborate with project teams to discuss problems and challenges and develop cost-effective, efficient solutions.
• Provide technical assistance to customers on specific projects.
