The growing Miami studio is seeking a Designer I – Architecture to join its team, contributing to a variety of international projects, with a particular emphasis on hospitality-focused developments, within a dynamic and collaborative studio setting. The Designer I is an emerging architectural professional who contributes to both the creative and technical aspects of the design process while gaining hands-on experience working alongside senior architects and project teams. This role supports projects across a diverse portfolio of hospitality, residential, and mixed-use developments, assisting with concept exploration, modeling, drawing production, and research. At OBMI, the Designer I role serves as a crucial foundation for professional growth, enabling the development of design thinking, technical skills, and an understanding of project workflows, while also providing exposure to the delivery of complex international projects from concept through documentation.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of professional architectural experience (excluding internships)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
  • Skilled in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp, or similar 3D modeling tools
  • Comfortable producing architectural drawings, models, and presentation graphics
  • Familiar with architectural documentation standards and drafting principles
  • Knowledgeable about building codes, regulations, and design best practices
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Curious, adaptable, and eager to learn new tools and design approaches
  • A collaborative team member who communicates clearly and professionally
  • Eligible to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree a plus
  • Experience with computational design tools such as Grasshopper

Responsibilities

  • Support project teams from concept design through technical documentation
  • Produce 2D drawings, 3D models, and visualizations to communicate design ideas
  • Assist with the development of concept presentations and design packages
  • Create and update Revit-based drawings and models under the guidance of senior designers
  • Translate design ideas into clear, organized drawing sets and graphics
  • Conduct design research, precedent studies, and site analysis
  • Assist with maintaining organized project documentation and drawing files
  • Update drawings and models based on internal and consultant mark-ups
  • Participate in design meetings and discussions, contributing ideas and taking notes
  • Support project teams with deliverable tracking, coordination, and presentation preparation
  • Apply OBMI standards to drawings, reports, and project documentation
  • Ensure design work aligns with relevant building codes and regulatory requirements
