About The Position

Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as, CAD, CAM or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED and 10 years of experience
Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years experience
Proficient in AutoCAD
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Understanding of ship design practices
Blueprint reading skills

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with all components of US Navy Pipe, Mechanical, Machinery and HVAC is preferred.
Possess an understanding in ship design, blueprint reading and Quality Assurance.
Background in Pipe, Mechanical, machinery and HVAC Design

Responsibilities

Applicant will be directly involved in the Quality Assurance and development of Marine drawings and other products associated with U.S. Naval ship modifications and overhauls.
Responsible for ensuring all technical requirements are fully complied into deliverable products while following applicable procedures and standards.
