About The Position

This Designer 4 position is for a team leadership position within the New Construction Carrier Foundation Group. The designer will be expected to manage workloads and assign work across multiple projects; mentoring and teaching is required; problem solving designs; checking multiple design products; representing the department in meetings; providing weekly statuses; working with the waterfront and vendors. Applicant must have experience in the areas of scheduling assignments, tracking and reporting metrics, and have design proficiency in welds, structural foundations, lifting pads, and hangers. In this role, the NX/TC software is primarily used, and AutoCAD occasionally, applicant must be proficient in these design tools. Must be able to work in a high paced environment and be able to multi-task with outstanding results ensuring quality and meeting schedule demands.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate (can be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree)
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate (can be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree)
  • High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience (can be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree)
  • High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience (can be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree)
  • Proficiency in NX/TC software
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software
  • Experience in scheduling assignments
  • Experience in tracking and reporting metrics
  • Design proficiency in welds, structural foundations, lifting pads, and hangers
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task with outstanding results ensuring quality and meeting schedule demands

Responsibilities

  • Gather information, make studies, compute calculations, and prepare original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal
  • Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning group such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications
